The Twelve Prophets, the last book in the section of the Prophets, compiles the messages of twelve different prophets of Israel. These are often referred to in English as the “Twelve Minor Prophets,” a term reflecting their relatively brief texts, rather than their significance. Spanning from the mid-8th century BCE to the early 4th century BCE, the prophecies of these twelve prophets range from the middle of the first Temple era, through the seventy years of Babylonian exile, and into the early years of the second Temple, marking significant transitions and developments in the history of the Land of Israel.
